02.01.20 Patricia's Pink Guava Orange Sauce

Our neighbor Patricia is one of those endlessly creative individuals, and she is always making something. She has beautiful mosaic projects all around her backyard that are interspersed with a variety of edible plants and ornamentals. Her neighbor gives her surplus pink guavas knowing that Patricia won’t let a single one go to waste. Today I watched her make a delicious pink guava orange sauce.

This is her method:

  1. Juice 3 oranges

  2. Quarter 10 guavas

  3. Cook in a sauce pan for 15-20 minutes with 1/2 tsp cinnamon, since of mace, 1/2 tsp ginger and a couple shakes of salt.

  4. Half-way through cooking, add juice of one lemon and blend mixture.

  5. Strain it and continue to cook for another 10-20 minutes, until it becomes the texture of a wet applesauce.
