12.03.20 Prickly Pear

I have been running past these prickly pears for weeks now on my loops around the back lands of our neighborhood park. Amazingly, no one has harvested them, but then again, they are a pain to prepare. I wore gloves to cut them loose, dropped them into a paper bag, brought them home, peeled off the outer skin (gloves still on), added the pulp to a blender, added the juice of an orange, and wouldn’t you know it, I still have tiny splinters all over my hands. The juice did taste pretty fabulous so I’d say it was kinda worth it.
