09.08.20 Mexican Bird of Paradise
This is actually a case of don’t eat your backyard. Since Covid my daughters have been spending a lot more time outside with their friends. The other night my youngest had a tent sleepover and they did a lot foraging around the block. The next day she told me that they ate some of the pods on our Mexican Bird of Paradise. Again, this was big news to me that these pods are edible. My surprise was confirmed by a few searches on the internet that describes these pods as poisonous and definitely not to be ingested. Luckily, no one had even a mild stomach ache and free range kids everywhere scored another point.
