08.28.20 Fig Sharing

When you have a giant fig tree word gets around. It is a favorite stopping place of orioles, mocking birds, honey bees, figeater beetles and all kinds of flies. Everyone wants a piece of these tasty inverted flowers. So, like many things in life we try to strike a balance of sharing with our pollinator friends and also harvesting our share of the fruit. This means a daily climb into the fig tree to see what’s ripe, what has been devoured and what still has a chance of being salvaged for human consumption.
