09.14.20 Sweet Basil

It seems strange that I am past the 2/3s mark of this leap year blog project and I am only now getting into basil. To tell the truth, I’ve had the darnedest time growing even one decent plant. With the heat waves, we put down some straw to hold in the moisture. I also transplanted the seedlings near the tomatoes for shade, following companion planting advice. Today, I finally had a enough to harvest some for pesto. This time I made it ultra traditional with basil, pine nuts, olive oil, garlic and salt. We love it on salmon with a side of greens,
