06.10.20 A Tale of Two Mulberry Trees

Three years ago, I planted two identical mulberry trees on the north slope of our backyard about 10 feet apart. Within weeks, they began to grow and change as if they were two different types of trees. Now, the mulberry tree on the left is barely 8 feet tall and gives a small handful of fruit. Meanwhile the tree on the right is about four times the size of the other one in all directions and it gives more fruit that we can eat, as you can see by today’s harvest. Most of the berries were traded for some worm tea from my neighbor but Sabrina made a small dessert with the leftovers of handmade whipped cream and mulberries.
