Art.hro.poda: Exoskeletal

Arthropoda Exoskeletal

In Art.hro.poda: Exoskeletal, she constructs a shell, inhabits it and then leaves the exoskeleton behind as an offering.
Art.hro.poda is a creature who relies on a modular suit that morphs, detaches and reconfigures itself in order to adapt to changing environments. Each public action or performance of Art.hro.poda is qualified by an adjective that describes a characteristic of arthropods.
Since moving to El Paso in August, 2007, I have been inspired arthropods’ outstanding adaptability perfected over thousands of years which uses a hard exoskeleton, segmentation, and jointed appendages. The physical characteristics of arthropods could be seen as desirable for humans in the face of increasing non-voluntary displacement, voluntary nomadism and climate change.
